LAST UPDATED ON 12/17/2020

As updates on the impact of the coronavirus continue to be released, we want to take a moment to inform you of the heightened preventative measures we have put in place at The Refuge, A Healing Place to keep our patients, their families, and our employees safe. All efforts are guided by and in adherence to the recommendations distributed by the CDC.

Please note that for the safety of our patients, their families, and our staff, on-site visitation is no longer allowed at The Refuge, A Healing Place.

  • This restriction has been implemented in compliance with updated corporate and state regulations to further reduce the risks associated with COVID-19.
  • Options for telehealth visitation are continuously evaluated so that our patients can remain connected to their loved ones.
  • Alternate methods of communication for other services may be offered when deemed clinically appropriate.

For specific information regarding these changes and limitations, please contact us directly.

CDC updates are consistently monitored to ensure that all guidance followed is based on the latest information released.

  • All staff has received infection prevention and control training.
  • Thorough disinfection and hygiene guidance has been provided.
  • Patient care supplies such as masks and hand sanitizer are being monitored and utilized.
  • Temperature and symptom screening protocols are in place for all patients and staff.
  • Social distancing strategies have been implemented to ensure that patients and staff maintain proper distance from one another at all times.
  • Cleaning service contracts have been reviewed for additional support.
  • Personal protective equipment items are routinely checked to ensure proper and secure storage.
  • CDC informational posters are on display to provide important reminders on proper infection prevention procedures.
  • We are in communication with our local health department to receive important community-specific updates.

The safety of our patients, their families, and our employees is our top priority, and we will remain steadfast in our efforts to reduce any risk associated with COVID-19.

The CDC has provided a list of easy tips that can help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then immediately dispose of the tissue.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

The Nest & Intensive Retreats

Located on 94 acres in the Ocala National Forest, The Refuge offers the highest quality of care through a holistic approach to therapy in the treatment of trauma, addiction, and more.

The Nest

In addition to our main campus on 94 serene acres in the majestic Ocala National Forest, the Refuge also owns a beautiful property on the secluded shores of Lake Weir in Ocklawaha, Florida. This location, which is known as The Nest, is an ideal environment for retreats, training sessions, and similar gatherings.

History & Features of The Nest

The Nest’s history can be traced to the 1940s, when a prominent horse breeder from the Ocala area built a summer home here. Over the decades, that initial construction was renovated and expanded upon several times, with subsequent owners rechristening the property as Wampler’s Lake Weir Lodge, Peacock’s Motel, Moeller’s Cottages, and finally, The Nest.

The Nest is a safe, warm, and nurturing environment where individuals can come together as an extended family; it is a special place that is conducive to growth and development.

Today, The Nest features 11 charming private rooms with gorgeous waterfront views along with a spacious reception cottage and private beach.

The Refuge has hosted a number of events at The Nest, including alumni gatherings and healing breath work retreats, and we are planning to expand our schedule in the months and years to come.

We will be updating this page on a regular basis as new events are added to our schedule, so please bookmark this page and check back often.

Also, please note that The Nest is operated separately from The Refuge. All treatment services for the individuals who are healing at The Refuge are provided on our main campus.

Rent The Nest for Your Organization

In addition to hosting events that are sponsored by The Refuge, The Nest is also available to be rented by companies, agencies, and other organizations that are looking for an ideal environment for offsite meetings, training sessions, and a host of similar gatherings.

As noted above, The Nest’s secluded location and atmosphere of rustic luxury makes it the perfect place for groups who wish to temporarily step away from the distractions of everyday life in order to focus on topics or issues of importance.
