Description:

Clinicians are seeing more transgender and gender variant individuals coming in seeking help. It is not a trend. Trans and gender variant individuals have always been here. Today we are seeing more individuals feeling safer in coming out, and we as behavioral health professionals need to be knowledgeable and create spaces that are safe for these individuals.

In a collaborative effort to inform and create understanding for clinicians surrounding transgender clients, Christy L. Plaice, Beck Gee-Cohen, and Dr. Isabel Lowell have created an event bringing clinicians together to learn the spectrum of best practices for transgender clients. Participants will learn terms and basic concepts surrounding gender & sexuality, treatment modalities, effects of trauma & addiction, and medical effects of hormones & surgery.
