In this two hour introductory presentation, participants are exposed to the history and background of brainspotting; at least 3 forms of basic brainspotting for trauma and disturbance which can be used with recovering people; the use of the pointer, and case examples highlighting the use of basic brainspotting and benefits to each person.

Joanne Baum, Ph.D., LCSW, BCD, CAC III received her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in 1979. During her graduate studies Joanne trained and worked with Dr. Carl Whitaker doing family therapy. Dr. Baum has taught at Central Michigan University, Vista College and Diablo Valley College. Joanne was the Clinical Director of The Haight Ashbury Free Medical Clinic, Detox Project from 1981-1983. In 1981 she began her private practice in the Bay area and continued when she moved to Colorado in 1993, working with adults, teens, children, as well as couples, and families. Joanne wrote two parenting/family newspaper columns a month for the local weekly newspaper, The Canyon Courier from 1984 – 1994. Currently, Dr. Baum has her private practice in Evergreen, Colorado. In addition, Joanne is a popular speaker for training workshops/seminars and key note speeches for parent groups, community groups and professional groups around the country. Joanne also works in the divorce field as a Child and Family Investigator (formerly called a Special Advocate for children), as a divorce coach or child specialist in Collaborative divorce cases, and as a Mediator throughout the Denver metropolitan area.
