Kimberly Sauer

Equine Therapist

I am dedicated to educating people on various disabilities and advocating for people with special needs with the goal of equipping them to live as normal as possible.  I have a deep passion for riding, training and caring for horses to utilize them for people with and without special needs through mounted and unmounted activities.  Growing up in South Florida allowed me access to premiere equine facilities serving people with and without special needs.  I was able to take that experience and apply it to my degree in Therapeutic Horsemanship.  During my time in college I became a PATH CTRI (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor).  From there I spent a few years teaching therapeutic riding as well as training and teaching Hunter/Jumpers and Dressage at a local barn.  My aspirations to continue my personal equine training and education lead to working for Olympic Eventing rider Buck Davidson in Reddick, FL.  Desiring to combine the knowledge I gained from working for Buck and my experience as a therapeutic riding instructor I was offered an opportunity at The Refuge to grow their equine therapy program to match the premier facility.  I am thrilled to be a part of the team here at the refuge and excited to watch the Equine program grow.
