Casey Sumner, MS

Therapist

Casey has completed his Bachelors in Psychology from Saint Leo University while also graduating with His Masters of Science in Psychology from Walden University. In doing so, he graduated with honors and is a member of PsiChi; an honor society centered around psychology. Currently, he is obtaining his PhD in Psychology with a specialization in General Psychology. His dissertation focuses on how combat veterans were able to thrive after the Vietnam War and is centered around trauma/PTSD. Casey has had experience in the child welfare system, and has served as both a licensed Child Dependency Case Manager as well as a Re-licensing Specialist for foster parents within the circuit five district of Florida. From there, he became a child therapist and worked with the Marion County Public School system providing mental health services for children and families. The Refuge will continue to move Casey in the right direction and provide him with the proper resources to continue to help not only adults but families through trauma and addiction.
