Other AddictionsOur rehab program is designed to deal with the myriad of ways that a person copes with unresolved trauma. Unresolved trauma manifests itself in a number of self destructive ways that include cutting, self harm, eating or restricting to mollify negative feelings, gambling, workaholism and internet addiction. The Refuge’s approach to these behaviors is to look at the underlying trauma – the underlying emotional pain – that fuels these behaviors and heal these emotions through a combination of 12 step recovery and trauma work. Please browse through this website for a brief explanation of the treatment modalities that we use. Tobacco Cessation Treatment ![]() While smoking and the use of smokeless tobacco products is permitted (smoking in designated areas only), The Refuge is proud to offer holistic treatment that includes education and physician assisted tobacco cessation rehab programs individually tailored to each interested client’s needs and recovery goals. Residential treatment can be the ideal time to tackle one of the strongest and most overlooked addictions that a person can ever have – nicotine addiction and allow a client to become smoke free in addition to being free from other primary substances. The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism affirms that several studies unquestionably concluded that patients who receive tobacco dependence treatment during other drug and/or alcohol abuse rehab treatment have better overall substance abuse treatment outcomes. The Refuge’s treatment approach is supportive and seeks to encourage clients to enhance their recovery with tobacco cessation education, support and, if required, prescriptions targeting the cravings that can accompany nicotine recovery. The Refuge is proud to be among the finest treatment institutions in the country now addressing and supporting recovery from tobacco. Please call us if you have any questions about this or any aspect of our program. Eating Disorders Eating Disorders can be as serious a problem for men as for women.
