Experiential Therapy for Trauma and PTSD Treatment

Experiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is geared towards helping clients understand their complex emotions in a manner that cannot be accessed by traditional talk, or process therapy. Experiential therapy is a broad term and the sub-categories of experiential therapeutic techniques – such as Art Therapy, Somatic Experience®, Mind/Body Therapy, Ropes Course(Adventure Therapy), R.A.D. Program, EMDR, Psychodrama, Hypnotherapy, Equine Therapy, and Recreational Therapy to name a few – have been scientifically proven to assist clients in accessing and coping with emotions that they otherwise could not clearly process.

The Refuge has incorporated experiential therapy in ways that target addiction recovery and trauma/PTSD resolution in an effort to engage a client’s strengths toward resolving deep-seated shame and guilt, while building self-esteem and self-worth.

Our staff has been professionally trained in all of these types of Experiential Therapy and we have provided more specific information about some of these therapies in our website. We encourage you to read more about what therapy we provide as we are quite proud of our holistic approach to recovery from addiction and PTSD resolution.
