Family ProgramThe Refuge Family Program is held every 6 weeks and we have designed it to educate family members about the addictive process and addiction as a “family disease.” We have developed a four day rehab program – Tuesday night through Friday afternoon – where we present information pertinent to the families, and invite family members to participate in the experiential aspects of our addiction rehab treatment. We at The Refuge recognize the incredible power in the family dynamic- and there is a wealth of research that backs this up. Our feeling is that healing and personal change cannot be limited to just the rehab client, the family can come and get a sense of the struggle and joy of change and the healing aspects of recovery. During the course of the week we teach about Al Anon, Co-Dependency, Neurobiology of addiction, PTSD/Trauma Treatment in addition to holding private family sessions and, for some, equine therapy or just horse back riding through the magnificent trails through our property. For many, the Family Week will be a pivotal and very positive experience for all. In preparation for Family Week we help arrange travel and local lodging. Further information can be obtained through our Case Management Department. However, family is typically contacted by The Refuge in anticipation of Family Week and making arrangements. The links below contain information regarding our family program. A typical schedule for the week is posted, although changes may be made and the exact schedule for family week events will be given to families when they arrive. Conduct guidelines are given for visitors to The Refuge. Finally, information useful to the families participating in the program is posted (logistical information such as numbers for the hotel etc). |
