The Refuge is an adult extended care, 12-Step oriented, residential program that takes a holistic approach to reestablishing the integrity of body, mind and spirit. Considering that addictions are nearly always a failed solution to underlying problems, we know that merely identifying a problem is not enough to live in the solution. We ask that clients make a 90 day commitment as we have designed our program to be gradually intensive.

Our mission has been to create a safe and trusting environment to begin the work of healing and personal reintegration by seeking to resolve a client’s underlying issues. As addiction is a disease that affects one’s emotions and creates chaotic thinking and behavior, we provide a secure environment to help our clients discover and heal the etiology of their addiction. We help our clients discover present day solutions to past hurts and traumas through a balanced combination of experiential and traditional therapy.

We believe that there are those who cannot achieve sobriety until their trauma is resolved. Our program is designed to treat individuals holistically and we have specialty components such as Eating Disorder, Depression/Anxiety and Sex and Love Addiction as we know that addiction is not limited to substance dependency. The Refuge incorporates experiential treatment techniques by trained therapists and counselors such as psychodrama, Somatic Experience, Ropes Course, hypnotherapy, EMDR, Breathwork and mindfulness meditation. The Refuge provides therapeutic outdoor programs including equine and Eagala work as well as events such as hiking, biking, exercising and simply walking in the surroundings of the pristine Ocala National Forest.

The Refuge embraces the Spiritual aspect of recovery and is a vibrant component of our treatment approach. Our caring and professional staff along with the multifaceted therapeutic milieu interact to allow one to become spiritually connected.
