Please join The Refuge - A Healing Place  and Acadia Healthcare Treatment Placement Specialists as we present a Continuing Education and Networking Luncheon:  "Introduction to Experiential Therapy: Utilizing  Active Therapeutic Techniques In Your Practice"

Program Overview:

When an individual experiences a traumatic event it can impact the emotional, physical and spiritual state of that person. As a survival mechanism, the body and mind tend to disconnect to allow the person to cope with the unwanted experience. While traditional talk therapies can be helpful, experiential therapies allow the individual to access various parts of the brain not traditionally engaged in more traditional therapeutic modalities. Experiential therapy is just like it sounds, an experience.  This category of therapy involves actions, movements, activities, and role plays which allow the clients and clinicians to identify and address hidden or subconscious thoughts or memories. This presentation is designed to be an introduction to experiential therapy and to help therapists understand how to utilize these techniques in their own practice. This program will explore how experiential therapy can serve as a bonding experience for a group, allowing clients to more quickly build a safe container in which to do more deeply rooted work as well as improve individual client’s self-esteem, promote self-awareness and develop healthy social skills and coping abilities.
