Dr Douglas Davies did all of his academic work at University of Florida from undergraduate school through his fellowship at their medical school. He was appointed to the cardiovascular anesthesia division as an assistant professor and then moved to create and grow the anesthesiology division at the Ocala Heart Institute. From there he went back to the University of Florida and entered their Addiction Medicine program. Under the supervision of Dr Ken Thompson and Dr Mark Gold, Dr Davies is now an assistant professor of psychiatry with the University of Florida in addition to being an Addiction Medicine fellow at the university.

Prior to coming to The Refuge, Dr Davies was the medical director for a number of years at a local non-profit agency supervising both clinical chemical dependency and their detoxification unit.Among his many passions is tobacco cessation treatment and he brings that expertise to The Refuge and the ability to work with clients individually toward recovery from all mood altering substances. Dr Davies is a well respected physician, professor and lecturer on addiction and recovery; he is a major asset to The Refuge as serves proudly as our Medical Director.
