The Refuge's administrative staff includes person(s) that have been in the treatment industry for many years, have exceptional experience in their department, or have completed The Refuge program. Our administrative staff can help answer any questions about our Trauma/PTSD and Substance Abuse rehab program, and will help make the admissions process as easy and stress free as possible. Once admitted to The Refuge, our staff will continue you to assist all of our clients with their outside needs, whether it is legal, financial, or educational.

Rick Fungaroli

Rick Fungaroli, RN, BSN
Chief Operating Officer
Rick joined The Refuge family in 2007 as the Director of Nursing. Rick's long career and experience in the medical field includes, working in critical care, emergency nursing and trauma for 14 years, and director in critical care services. He recently accepted the position as Chief Operation Officer and although he has changed his position at The Refuge, he continues to oversee and assist with all medical issues and decisions. His education and work experience, personal experience in recovery and a passion for helping others, make him an amazing addition to our Refuge team.


Isabel Carsten-Hernandez

Isabel has been with The Refuge since it began in 2003. As Director of Facilities she oversees all of the operational functions of our 90 acre facility. Isabel has over 8 years of experience working in residential treatment programs and was formerly our Director of House Management. She is currently working on her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and has training in all dimensions of addictions treatment. Isabel has worked as a paraprofessional in counseling and maintains an active role with both clients and staff. Her versatility as an administrator and clinical support staff makes her an invaluable resource for The Refuge and our clients.


Michelle Quinton

Admissions Director
Michelle has been at The Refuge since it opened in 2003. While at The Refuge, she has worked in many different departments, the most recent being the Admissions Director. Over the last 8 years Michelle has developed specific skills and techniques that help her guide families through the admissions process. Michelle has attended multiple 12 step recovery groups for years, and has been able to target her knowledge of the Al-Anon program to assist families who are desperate to find help for their loved ones. She believes that healthy recovery starts with acceptance and knows that when clients and families call they are reaching out, reaching out for help.


Nancy D'Aurio

Director of Case Management & Quality Assurance
Nancy started at The Refuge shortly after we opened. She has an MBA and recently received an MSW. Nancy's bilingual communication skills and experience with visa immigration issues allow The Refuge and case management department to assist clients at the international level.

Currently, Nancy assists clients with legal matters including probation and parole compliance on a nationwide level, interstate compact transfers, pre and post sentencing requirements as well as civil legal matters. Nancy is active in the community and gifted in her efforts to coordinate and advocate for our clients. Since the Refuge has been open, we have been able to utilize Nancy's superior research skills, her dedicated attention to detail and her great warmth and compassion towards our clients. Additionally, given her background in business Nancy assists The Refuge in credentialing, Quality Assurance, accreditations, certificates and licensure.


Linda Crane

Business Office Manager
Linda started at The Refuge in 2005. She has over 30 years of experience running and managing complex business offices. At The Refuge, Linda works with clients and their families, offering guidance and recommendations through the financial aspects of treatment. Aside from her professional business experience, Linda has completed many of the clinical trainings offered at The Refuge. She is very knowledgeable of both the business and clinical sides of our program. Her professional manner and love for the field of treatment make her an invaluable asset to both our clients and staff.


Insurance Team

The Refuge insurance team provides many services including, verifying insurance benefits and counseling the client and/or family members about their individual plan. The team works to provide the client with the maximum amount of insurance authorization possible. Our door is always open to discuss insurance concerns with the clients.

Susan Moffitt

Susan Moffitt BA
Business Development and Marketing
Susan has been in the recovery field over five years and has her BA in marketing and business development. Her passion for her own recovery and the calling to help others led her away from her career in TV advertising and into a career in the Treatment Industry. As a Refuge alum, Susan is able to explain her experience at The Refuge and our program from a first person perspective. Susan works out of Palm Springs, California, which allows her to target most of her business development on the West Coast. She also travels all over the country promoting The Refuge and its umbrella companies to clinicians and professionals throughout the treatment field. Susan's genuine personality, love for laughter and natural ability to connect with people; make her an asset to the growth of The Refuge.

 


Mark Rosen

Mark Rosen, B.A.
Director of Refuge Transitional Living
Mark Rosen started with The Refuge in 2008 and is in charge of Discharge Planning, coordinating Aftercare Services and coordinating Family Week. Mark developed and now leads the Life Skills program for The Refuge that is personalized for each client Mark brings rich educational and work experience with him: he's a graduate of Concordia College with a BA in Psychology with post-graduate work at Simmons College in Special Education. Mark has established a broad network of affiliates and referral sources for on-going supportive care throughout the country for our clients and his dedication to assure continuity of care for our alumni is unsurpassed.


Brett Watt

Brett Watt, CRSS
Director of House Management
Brett Watt has been with The Refuge for over four years and is currently the Director of House Managers. He is a Certified Recovery Support Specialist in Florida and is working on his undergraduate degree in Business Management.

As supervisor of the House Management Department, he is the central coordinator and liaison between the clinical staff and the support staff. Brett and The House Management department are responsible for assisting the clients in virtually every facet of their treatment. In addition, Brett oversees the day to day treatment activities and coordinates any special events that the clients will take part in. Brett's experience and knowledge of The Refuge make him a vital part of our team.


Jessica O'Donnel

Client Intake Director
Jessica O'Donnel joined The Refuge in 2008 working for our Admissions Department and recently was appointed the position of Client Intake Director. Here, Jessica continues to provide exceptional services to those who contact The Refuge - A Healing Place as well as guiding new clients through the often emotional intake process. Jessica's years in recovery from addiction and trauma give her experience, strength and hope, which she passes onto the clients and families during the admission and intake process. Her goals are to continue her education and very bright career in the field of addiction, while continuing to be attentive, supportive and informative to those who seek help from The Refuge.


Linda Berry-Jones

Linda Berry-Jones
Case Manager
Linda has been with The Refuge since 2003 and has performed multiple duties. For the past few years she has worked in Case Management handling offsite appointments, record-keeping and other critical case management issues. Linda coordinates many of the ancillary services such as massage, acupuncture and yoga activities. Additionally, she's helped in coordinating many of the Family Week events and scheduling. She has her AA degree in education and is an active spiritual entity at The Refuge and in our community.


Rebecca Pecca

Rebecca Pecca
Rebecca Pecca has been working at The Refuge since it opened in 2003. Rebecca completed undergraduate work in psychology at Florida Atlantic University. She has been trained in EAGALA and EAP, oversees the Equine Therapy program and is a certified Ropes Course Facilitator.

Recently, Rebecca stepped out of her role as The Refuge Foundation Guardian and stepped into her new role as the Director of Refuge Transitions. There she handles all the administrative and clinical needs of our sober living community. Rebecca believes that a healthy, structured and loving transition from residential treatment to transitional housing is the key to long lasting sobriety.
